This week is Climate Week in New York. There’s been an awesome density of interesting founders, policy people, and other investors in the city, and I’ve had an absolute blast meeting everyone.
Today we hosted an event at USV on the impact of the IRA on climate tech startups. Sophie Bakalar from Collaborative Fund moderated great presentations and Q&A with Sasha Stashwick, Director of Policy at Carbon180, Josh Santos, CEO of Noya, Kathy Hannun, Co-founder and President of Dandelion, and Kevin Bush, CEO of Molten Industries. We heard about the tax incentives and procurement efforts that came out of the IRA and how they’ve unlocked new business models in direct air capture, residential geothermal, and clean hydrogen.
Policy is so important to climate startups – both in terms of regulations that might hinder development and incentives that can help make a potentially transformative technology viable in the near term – I was thrilled we were able to foster some practical conversation on the topic.
