I did a bunch of computer science in high school and college but never really got to do much robotics. I’ve recently been spending some time thinking about the space and wanted to get my hands dirty to understand it better. Thankfully, our portfolio company Viam makes it super easy to make machines smart, even for rusty coders like me. I had some time this afternoon and decided to take a stab at programming one of their rovers. I got set up and pretty quickly had the rover roaming around the USV office, which felt absolutely electric. I enchanted an object in the physical world with a spell I inscribed in code.
